After booking Atlanta Storage Sheds aka Backyard Custom Construction, I was given a date 2 weeks out. The day before the materials were supposed to be delivered. When that didn’t happen, I began to cal and call. No answer. He said his grandfather died in Ohio and would reschedule to the next Tuesday. (Just like one of the previous complaints.) Once again the materials didn’t show up and he lead me on this wild chase of phone calls and texts. He told me the materials could be delivered up until 8 pm by Home Depot. I waited til 8 pm and not to mention, taking off work a second time. He tell me at 10:00pm that the materials were delivered to the wrong house. Same address different city. Well that’s a good one, right? Then he had me hanging on and won’t give me a direct answer of when they will “redeliver”. I ran a google check before we starting dealing with him but didn’t know he went under a different name until I looked at the email throughly. After finding all these bad reviews, I’m glad he didn’t show up because he also doesn’t stand by his work. Seems he doesn’t do the best work anyway.

My shed was completed in one day as promised and was stick built on site
I will state up front that I am not easily satisfied and frugal when it comes to home improvements. Dustin was on the job site the entire time and engaged int the construction of my shed. I was also there and watched every step of the job. The shed construction exceeded my expectations and the work was done professionally and in compliance with professional standards/codes. There were here at 7:15 am and were done around 4 pm. They cleaned up the entire area(s). I could not be more pleased with the shed and it was built to the standards set forth by the architectural committee of my HOA. I priced other sheds before deciding and found that they were both more expensive (including the delivered sheds) and/or could not be built to my satisfaction.

STAY AWAY, Dustin comes off as a very nice person, that's where it ended. He is not a good person to deal with after the sale. I had a warranty issue, but he stated it was not covered. This was a direct result the installed doors that they never flashed or put a metal drip edge atop jamb as James Hardie states MUST BE done around all windows and doors or no warranty on their products! Dustin's crew did none of this, get in get paid get out and NEVER return calls or Emails. Now that's an upstanding business or individual. Not true to his own words, still waiting Dustin!!

I decided to build a shed and began to look for one. I got on craigslist and found an add for Backyard Custom Construction. They seem to have nice looking sheds and I wanted it to match the house. I called and called and called. Left messages and messages. Never to get e response at all. So, thank you to those of you who posted here to let me know this guy is a liar and a thief; two of the worst things you can be. He more than likely would build a substandard building for me and to think of it I can do a better job myself. Craigslist should ban his posts....Brad

Dustin Hirschfeld Building DID NOT PASS INSPECTION! WARNING...

Dustin comes across as a nice guy which makes it difficult to write this poor review. However, I have to put out a warning so that others do not have the same experience. He built a shed for me and assured me that it would pass NC inspection. When I emailed him the inspector's notes, he was dismissive and refused to do any work to remedy the situation. The failed inspection included several items - no foundation - wrong sized headers - splices in load bearing beams - no collar ties - no tie downs - the list goes on. Needless to say, I tried phoning and texting Dustin. We basically paid nearly $10,000 for a building we can not use without having another $2000 or so poured into fixing problems. To make matters worse, other contractors are hesitant to make fixes on this builder's work - for fear of liability if something goes wrong over time. We have had 7-8 people out to take a look (builders and structural engineers) and everyone agrees that the building was not built correctly! Steer clear of Backyard Custom Construction! Dustin still will not offer any explanation or relief for a job he should have done right in the first place. Choose someone else.

Never showed up
Been trying to get them to build a chicken shed and run since March. The guy NEVER answers the phone or returns phone calls. Finally got him scheduled for a Tuesday and texted him the Monday before for what time to expect them. He was in OH for a family death and didn't call to let me know they wouldn't be there Tuesday...I understand. However, we rescheduled via text (again, because he NEVER answers his phone or returns calls) for two weeks later. Both days come and go and no sign of them, no communication. Unreal how he can run a business with his total lack of communication. Go elsewhere - we did.

bought a solar greenhouse shed.. sched a build only to get a call and have it put off.. supposedly due to getting an updated version due to prior sheds having a defect... hah.. liar... then.. date of build comes.. an hour before crew is suppose to be here.. I get a call... crew has a problem.. new date 2 weeks .. I let the *** have it but good.. told him if they don't show then.. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.. now I am verifying the lies via bird boyz in Washington.. DONT USE THIS ***.. YOU WILL BE ANNOYED AND LIED TO.. IM GOING TO PUT THIS *** OUT OF BUSINESS.. THAT I GUARENTEE!

Doesn't back up work, falls off the face of the earth when their is a problem

Dustin Hirschfeld built a $4k shed for us in January. He said that if we had any problems to call him. Well when we hired painters to paint it a couple weeks after it was built they pointed out to us where the fascia was warping, also we had a rainy day and the doors were jamming. So we called Dustin who apologized and said he would make it back out here to fix it. Well 8 months later, he's not returning our calls or messages and he's built a lot of sheds around here. I hope no one else has any issues because I can tell them they won't get fixed. I just wanted to warn anyone who is thinking about doing business with this man. Once he gets your money you will never see him again!

THEY MADE MANY MISTAKES & THEN BLEW US OFF...
We had a ranch house, a barn and a shed built by Backyard Custom Construction. They build nice sheds , BUT DO NOT use them to build a house. The made a ton of mistakes and we had to spend weeks fixing them. He built the interior doors rough openings the wrong sizes; many of the wall joists were not nailed; some of the floor boards were not nailed down; deck boards were not all attached; the walls were so out of level we had to rebuild a lot of them; I could go on but won't. He was supposed to come back, told us a date, we waited for him but he never showed...he just blew us off. He got paid and we never heard from him again. He needs to stick to building sheds and stay away from houses.

Backyard Custom Construction ripped me off, and won't do the warranty work
Got a shed built by this shady construction company. They charged me for work they never finished and won't come and repair the warranty work on my shed. My double doors wont close shut, my single door sticks and is extremely hard to open, the shed is sinking into the ground. And I paid for soffit and fascia and only got the fascia done. I have had a few more construction companies in to estimate what needs to be fixed on this shed. They took my money(check made out to a person, not the company name)said they would be back to fix it, and its been 3 months, won't return my phone calls. I will never recommend this company to anyone...they are horrible business people. BTW my shed cost 5,000.00..so it wasn't cheap!
